Honey and cinnamon cookies, it's an original idea to have an exotic snack with your children during this Christmas period.7
A tradition that has existed for years and that is not likely to disappear soon: Christmas cookies. Christmas cookies accompanied by a glass of milk are the present to offer to Santa Claus when he comes to put the gifts under the tree. Indeed, the making of this pastry is a special moment to share with your partner, your children or the whole family. 

Gathering the ingredients

For your Christmas Honey Cinnamon Cookies, you will need:

  • 300 g of flour
  • 100 g of butter
  • an egg
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 tbsp. milk
  • 1 or two teaspoons of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.

Of course, if you don't have honey at home, we always recommend using pure honey. You will have a great choice of rare honeys from Madagascar on Ilanga Nature. Choose the  Mangrove honey with a salty-sweet taste or the Mokarana honey which is an endemic plant of the Big Island. It is the same for the cinnamon which by its unique aroma will make your guests' mouths water.

Preparing your Christmas cookies

First, sift the flour to prevent lumps from forming in your dough later on. This step will also allow you to mix this first ingredient with the yeast.
Next, place the egg and butter in a bowl to mix to a smooth consistency. You can "beat" the ingredients with an electric mixer, as you wish. Add the sugar, honey and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth. Then, add the cinnamon at this stage to bring aroma to your cookie.
Now, while continuing to beat, you can pour in the flour and yeast and the milk little by little. Then, when this preparation is perfectly uniform, you will obtain a thick dough that you can gather in a ball. We advise you to cover it with a plastic film. Once done, let it rest for a while in a cool place. The ideal duration would be 2 or 3 hours, but if you don't have time, leave it for only 15 minutes.
Take the dough out of the fridge before turning on your oven at 180 °C.
Roll out your dough on a floured work surface and let it rest at room temperature for a few minutes to soften it and make cutting easier. Choose molds to obtain the shapes of your future cookies: bells, cherubs or stars.

Baking your honey and cinnamon cookies

  • Place these cookies on a baking sheet
  • Line the baking sheet with parchment paper (to avoid sticking)
  • Preheat your oven
  • Bake at 160° for about 15 minutes
  • Allow to cool
  • You can decorate with chocolate chips or cinnamon powder
